Valkyria Chronicles 2 – U.S. Release Announced

09/19/2009

The sequel to the popular PS3 Strategy RPG has been announced for U.S. release at Capcom’s Blog. The major difference is that Valkyria Chronicles 2 is being released on the PSP, not the PS3. The game is set to be released in Japan in Winter 2009 and in the U.S. in Summer 2010.

Valkyria is one of my very top favorite games, but this whole being on psp and being half dating sim thing is pretty disappointing. The canvas engine can’t even attempt to work on the PSP so the art is just a better version of the crappy attempt they made to look like the original game in that garbage of an anime series, and adding in an element thats completely unneeded when fans worldwide loved the game how it was is just ugh.

I can understand how you feel. On the PSP you can’t fully appreciate the game for what the original was. The fuzziness and blurriness may ruin it also. As for the dating sim aspect, as long as it doesn’t detract from the actual game, i.e. making it boring, then I don’t mind it. It is nice to get away from the action at times and further develop the story. Maybe certain relationships will affect your squad’s performance or something. I think that that would be an interesting aspect to the game.

Sounds more like a ripoff of the Persona games than a nice new spin. I play VN’s and dating sims and whatever, so I don’t mind them, but being mixed into my strategy RPG? I dunno.
